Portable Solar Study Classrooms

Green Apple Classrooms are the 1st Reasonable Grid Neutral Compact Portable Solar Study Classrooms As a substitute for the standard “Brick and Mortar” study room, Transportables or relocatables are a preferred, cheap solution. The Green Apple adds a new standard becoming one of the first portable solar study classrooms to generate all it’s required electricity through the PV film attached to it’s roof. Thru Net-Metering the Green Apple, under most conditions, will generate more electricity than it’ll require on a yearly basis. A Clean Energy Solution An advanced HVAC unit, state-of-the-art lighting system, and increased insulation all reduce the unit’s energy demands. To meet these lowered demands, we employ a choice of amorphous silicon thin-film solar generating panels on the roof of the units. The result’s a study room which generates as much energy as it consumes. For California taxpayers, it means a once a year electrical reductions of $22.3 million if the state ultimately replaces a quarter of the prevailing transportable fleet with energy efficient, portable solar study classrooms.

And eventually, for the planet it suggests an emissions savings of over 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. Optional Curved Roof The indisputable fact that lightweight classrooms can be moved from one location to another presents a novel design challenge when dealing with solar panels. It is always best for solar panels found in the Northern Hemisphere to face true south so as to maximize solar output. But because of the potential mobility of portables, we created a curved roof that maximizes average solar output given the uncertainties inherent in portable solar powered classroom placement.

Because thin-film panels are better at soaking up solar electricity in diffuse light settings compared against conventional crystal panels, our study rooms generate important amounts of electricity regardless of what alignment they are placed in. Alternatively, if a college district is confident that a compact will remain in the same location for the duration of its lifetime, custom solar panel configurations are practical. Calif. Division of the state Designer The Green Apple Study room Designs for Models A, B, and C have been accepted by the California Division of State Architect. Giving the chance for the buildings to be sold to any Public School District in the state of California. The DSA provides design and construction oversight for K-12 colleges and Community Colleges throughout the State of California.

With the extensive selection of climate types (from the High Sierra’s to Death Valley) California offers the hardest of environments for Architect’s and Builders. Though there’s a growing need for “Green Portables” in the state there were comparatively few entries to the field. The method for DSA approval is a really detailed and laborious effort which has limited the number of rivals. SMI our production partners have plants for the portable solar study classrooms in both southern California and Texas and may be able to ship anywhere in America.

A Solar Electric System For Santa Barbara Catholic Charity

Bonterra Solar, a solar energy design and installation company, recently completed a solar electric project for Catholic Charities of Santa Barbara, a countrywide social service organization whose mission is to serve people in need. The rooftop system is comprised of more than a hundred solar electric panels and was installed over multiple buildings at the site. Producing slightly more than 20,500 kWh’s of electricity each year, the solar electric system will seriously reduce the charity’s operating costs by balancing almost 35% of its electricity use. “We are proud to have once been a part of this project and are excited that the savings from our system will permit Catholic Charities to expand its efforts in the Santa Barbara community,” announces Blair Herbert, a Principal with Bonterra Solar. The system was made feasible through a cash rebate through the California Solar Initiative (CSI) which considerably reduced the up-front costs of the solar system and will permit Catholic Charities to attain an exceedingly good return on investment. Bonterra, based in Manhattan Beach, CA, designs and installs residential and commercial solar electric systems in California and Hawaii. Bonterra has installed hundreds of systems and has a commitment to providing cost-effective and quality solar systems that provide financial, environmental and social benefits.

Wind power is the fastest growing energy sector. The multimillion dollar giant windmills produce power, and wind is much cleaner than fossil fuels. The huge wind farms may soon be replaced by smaller household wind turbines that are more efficient and cost effective. The 3.2 kwh Sauer Windcharger after rebates is about $1200-$1500, and should pay for itself after about 18 months when your electricity might become free depending on how much you use. The Sauer Windcharger is quiet, collects wind from 360 degrees, has no gears and about four moving parts, and only needs a slight breeze to generate power. It can be installed only five feet off the roof, can produce the same electricity at 200 revolutions per minute as a conventional windmill turning at 900 rpm. Because of difference in torque, the Windcharger can efficiently generate energy with a 3mph wind while other models of wind turbines need a minimum of 6-7 mph wind. The Sauer Windcharger needs a base of about two square feet, and can be set up on a roof in about 30 minutes. Since you would be connected to the public utility grid, any excess power would go to the grid and you would only pay for what you used minus what you generated with the Windcharger. If you generated more electricity than you used, then the electric utility would have to pay you. The Sauer Windcharger home unit should be available for purchase by the fall of 2011. Are you ready for the home windpower revolution? Look for videos on this site soon. Meanwhile, look around for other wind and solar products you might find useful!

Wind Power Businesses

Regardless of what happens to our economies in the future, one bright spot is the wind power industry. A business that is ready to expand as our existing economies naturally change. Earth4energy have a site that offers you the way to make your own home Wind energy system for a bit less than 200 US$. Good news for House owners who face higher electricity costs, in a time of lower household incomes.

This also creates an opportunity for Entrepreneurs who by learning how to fit a home run wind power system, could offer this in public, and start their own business, both providing, installing and servicing this system. So many folk are still waiting for the “Green” revolution to start, frequently sticking onto the fake hope our old pre-crash commercial system will return. This could be a fake hope, fueled by Administration ‘stimulus” packages and bank bailouts intended to only stem our free falling old economy. We are in truth leading to a “Green” industrial revolution, in which many new businesses could enter a new market, which not only provides new business, but in the long run creates millions of new work opportunities . wind power is the future, but by taking a much discussed product to home and business owners, at an inexpensive price.

Could create a win-win solution for yourself and the community you are supplying the wind power service too. Imagine, offering your community the likelihood of sustainable energy, for their home or business, at a cost effective could create your future, and help make a more tolerable future for your community.

Solar Thermal Power

Lately In a brief entitled “On the increase, solar thermal power and the fight against Global temperature rises” released by Environment Florida, a conclusive statement was made that America has the potential to meet all of its current electricity wants with large central concentrating solar thermal power plants. The report found that solar thermal power plants covering an area of one hundred x 100-mile area in the Southwest could power the whole country while cutting global temperature rises emissions. The nation’s Renewable energy Lab has identified the capability for more than 7,000 gigawatts (GW) of concentrating solar electricity generation on lands in the southwestern US alone – more than 6 times current U.S. Electricity consumption.

There were other areas of the united states discussed as well, like Florida, the mountain west, and the Great Plains that can also generate significant power from the sun. This sounds like a good plan, does it not? Deserts in the Southwest are usually giant areas of hot, sandy, flat land covered in scrubs, mesquite, and cactus that isn’t used for a lot of anything. Actually it sounds like the ideal place for large tracts of solar panels lined up to catch the hot desert sun. So would it not be a great idea to use that land for the good of everyone and the environment by building solar thermal power plants there making the electricity that we all need? What could there be to which you might object? California Senator Dianne Feinstein wrote to the Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar to request that 12 proposed solar thermal power plans for the desert lands be scrapped, citing potential habitat annihilation. The complaint applies to a tiny fraction of the 165 outstanding wind and solar electricity leases on six hundred thousand acres of former railroad land. Feinstein says that developing the land goes against the land’s proposed purpose and puts wildlife in the path of danger. “Unfortunately, many of the sites now being considered for leases are utterly unseemly and will lead directly to the wholesale destruction of some of the most spotless areas in the desert,” Feinstein wrote in the letter.

She’s especially nervous about the desert between Joshua Tree Nationwide Park and the Mojave Nationwide Preserve. The solar projects could most likely split up the wildlife habitats. Does not this remind you of some of the debates you hear when people want to build prisons or airfields? Nobody wants them in their backyard. Think of all the good that can come from utilizing the desert areas for solar thermal power generation of more than 7,000 gigawatts (GW). solar energy plants are increasingly cost-competitive with other power generation technologies and don’t produce carbon-dioxide, the key planetary warming contaminant. The price of power from solar thermal power plants is estimated to be competitive in cost with theoretical coal-fired power plants that capture and store their carbon dioxide emissions and with new nuclear power plants.

There are a spread of advantages to enjoy when you have a solar power house. Many have the mistaken belief that incorporating solar power house kits will be unaffordable. Though some installed solar energy panel systems for home use do end up costing thousands, it is possible for you to get a solar powered home system in place for an acceptable price. If you like do it yourself projects, installing a solar energy panel home system in your house could be cheap and exciting. For less than $1000, you may have your solar powered house.

This setup will not run a huge two story home but e.g. For a little cottage, you can get the required materials for $600 or so. This price requires you doing the installation yourself so be standing by to do some installation procedures by yourself . There are a range of materials that you’re going to need. A couple of products you’ll need include solar energy panels, sealed twelve volt batteries, 6-amp twelve volt charge controller and, sine wave inverter. Each component can be obtained for $600 or less, a reasonable price, if you purchase thru web. Then all you need to buy is the special hardware for mounting, cables for the battery, fuses, and wires for the project.

Although you are starting rather little with your solar power house plans, the option is available for you to add to the present system to make a larger solar electricity system for house. You can add more to the system at a later date if it is needed. A larger system will be wanted to power bigger solar energy homes nonetheless, this smaller starter system is easy to afford and can help you start. With some work you will be able to convert your place to solar power for a reasonable deal. While you’ll need to do all the work, it can be an exciting project to work on. Start out purchasing the materials discussed to get started. This will give you your start to having a home on solar energy.

With numerous countries such as South africa, Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada, UK, Germany, etc, offering motivations for solar power homes nowadays, you can add on your own solar power system and take advantage of a motivation from the government in your neighborhood too. The thrilling thing is, you’ll be developing your own solar power house for a great deal less than you ever expected and on your way to becoming green for the needed power in your home.

As the planet’s consumption of energy increases there are plenty of companies that are searching for new and cleaner paths to produce power. It stands to reason that these corporations will be quite profit-making in the near future and they’re beginning to gather plenty of attention from financiers. Since many of these firms are relatively new there is not any benchmark to compare then to. Picking individual firms that will be profitable in the long term is quite complicated. That’s why many of us are beginning to analyze alternative energy retirement funds. These are investments that pool the money of many people together and use it to invest in many corporations in the alternative energy field. Investing in alternative energy hedge funds can help you earn a decent profit while supporting firms that are working to provide clean forms of alternative energy or power, reduce pollution and lower our dependence on foreign oil. Many individuals include alternative, green or eco-friendly energy mutual funds in the same classes as socially responsible investing or green investing.

When making any investment you must fastidiously read the prospectus to make sure that the goals of the funds chief matches you private goals. Investing in alternative, replaceable or green energy mutual funds is actually not really different. Currently there are relatively few investment firms that offer alternative, green or renewable power hedge funds, but the number is growing quickly as requirement for investment grows. Many research sources are available online including MarketWatch, MSN Money and Yahoo Finance. All are good starting points for finding info on alternative, green or renewable energy funds.

Renewable Green Energy in Developing Nations

It may seem that green energy requires pricey, top-shelf technology that only the wealthiest countries can afford. In reality the opposite is true : off-grid regions and undeveloped states frequently make the best candidates for renewable green energy. Start up corporations like Nokero World Ltd are leading an international green energy movement that is catapulting developing nations past the commercial age and right into a “green energy” era. “From solar panels, to batteries, to LEDs, a whole host of technologies have reached the balance point, to where we are able to now bring replaceable technologies to the developing world in a really realistic way,” announced Steve Katsaros, inventor of the Nokero Sunlight bulb, the world’s most cost effective all-in-one sunlight. A new video short from Emmy-nominated John Mans distribution of press releases highlights these ideas by demonstrating the benefits of Nokero’s solar power in Africa. About the video : Mans, along with filmmakers Andi Lucas and Melinda MacInnis, went to Swaziland with forty eight Nokero sunlight bulbs and delivered them to those who live with little or no electricity near the Mlilwane Game Reserve.

The bulbs were given to town leaders in an inter-park dance competition at Hlane Royal Nationwide Park. They were also given to youngsters who can now study at night and feel safer with their Nokero green energy solar bulbs. In response the kids sang a song of thanks, which is featured in the video. The bulbs were also given to game rangers, who are tasked with the tough job of safeguarding the endangered black rhinoceros ‘, as well as lions, giraffes and other animals, on the famous Game Reserves. The bulbs bring the comfort of added safety, and can also help the rangers track poachers or even more simply navigate the Reserves at night. Developing nation in the lead : Swaziland is a premier example showing how developing states can benefit from Solar. The African country has been proactive about implementing solar, and the people of the Mlilwane hamlet were familiar in the usage of green energy solar technology even before their Nokero bulbs arrived.

“These are folks that are very poor but who definitely know what solar electricity is,” said Lucas, who is featured in the video. “They all understand what the panels are to hand them something that made such complete sense to them, it was truly a powerful thing.” To Nokero, Mans, MacInnis and Lucas, it is another sign that the worldwide effort to make solar a viable green energy power source is progressing – one village at a time. About Nokero : Nokero (short for No Kerosene) was formed in June 2010 by inventor Steve Katsaros to develop safe and environmentally-friendly green energy solar products that remove the necessity for damaging and polluting fuels used for light and heat around the world and, most significantly, are reasonable to the communities that need them. The light bulb is a shape known around the globe. The Nokero solar lights unique bulb shape, its easy yet sturdy design, and its cost mean the Nokero sunlight bulb is humanity’s best chance at ending the practice of burning kerosene.

Solar Energy at Glen Raven Plant

Argand Energy Solutions of Charlotte announced today that they have been awarded a contract for the installation of a 5 hundred kilo watt solar energy system for Glen Raven, Inc. Atop its Norlina plant, which makes yarns for Sunbrella (TM) performance fabrics. The solar energy array will be the largest under Progress Energy’s SunSense Commercial PV (photovoltaic) program, generating electrical power approximately identical to the annual electricity use of 47 typical homes. The $3 million project includes replacing the plant’s 175,000-square-foot roof with a highly-reflective white roof that won’t only reinforce the performance of the solar energy modules, but will also improve cooling inside the plant. Completion of the solar energy installation is forecasted this fall.

“This project demonstrates how a well-designed environmental program can have multiple benefits,” announced Leib Oehmig, president of Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, the Glen Raven subsidiary that operates the plant and manufactures and markets Sunbrella(TM) fabrics for awning, furniture and sea applications. “When this project is completed, our plant will have an energy efficient roof hosting a solar system that may also function as a long term provider of replaceable electricity to Progress Energy and its customers.” Argand Energy President, Erik Lensch commented, “We are proud to work with North Carolina clean energy leaders like Glen Raven and Progress Energy to design and install this huge solar energy system which may create roles and contribute to energy autonomy for our state.” This project was made possible by Progress Energy’s SunSense Commercial Solar PV program, engineered to spur the development of renewable solar energy by offering a premium price for solar electricity developed on commercial roofs. At 5 hundred kilowatts (kW), the Glen Raven Norlina array will be the largest array under this program.
